Recipe // Copy Cat- Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade

Ingredients Needed:
Tazo Passion Tea (bought mine at Starbucks)
Lemonade
Simple Syrup: sugar and water

I made the simple syrup that is needed and this contains a simple mixture of 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. I found this syrup recipe from another blogger that tried a different rendition of this drink. All you have to do is bring the sugar and water to a boil and cook for about a minute until all the sugar is dissolved. Throw in the fridge to cool and it'll magically become a syrup!

Next, boil 13 cups of water (or however big the pitcher you are using is). Meanwhile, open your tea box, cut the strings off and plop the bags into your container. When the pot of water comes to a boil, pour over the tea bags and let steep 7-10 minutes.

After about 10 minutes take out the bags with a spoon and squeeze the extra flavor out between 2 spoons or just let it drip out.

Stick the pitcher in the fridge and let it cool. Now go do something cool, like eating or watching a romantic movie like I did. Whatever floats your boat. I actually left it in there overnight and mixed everything in the morning.

Then after a while, the tea is finally cold enough to start mixing! I happened to have gotten myself a Passion Tea Lemonade from Starbucks yesterday afternoon, so I used that to get the exact measurements. Fill the tea to the second line and then the lemonade to the third line. I went a little over because I really like the lemonade taste. You can change the ratio however you like.

I then added about 2 Tbl of the simple syrup and gave it a good mix. Throw in your ice and you're good to go! Something in the store that they do that I didn't is shake it all together to get the foam on the top. I couldn't find a container to shake it in so I just skipped it. But you can shake it like polaroid picture and get the fancy foam on top if you like.

All done and ready to be drank. nom nom nom.

My drink came out a little bit stronger than how Starbucks makes them, so I make put less tea and more lemonade in next time. But overall, it's equally delicious.

I made enough of this drink to probably last me a few weeks for about $10. A 20 oz one from Starbucks goes for $4 each. Making it yourself not only saves you a whole bunch of cash, but it also makes you feel like a fancy drink mixer dude (whatever they are called).

Hope you enjoy it, if you try it out let me know!!

let's play a game

No, not that kind of game. I'm not into making you kill other people to survive. And I hate puzzles, so I would never refer to myself as Jigsaw.

I was doing some major cleaning of the room today and snapped this picture...

How many cat things can you find in this pile of a mess?

My room looks like that because today I tried out a few cleaning tricks I read on Pinterest the other day that both used baking soda. The first trick I tried was using baking soda to clean out that black gunk that builds up in bathroom sink drains. I don't know if your drain gets as bad as mine does, but sometimes that thing can be pretty nasty.

So I dumped some baking soda down that little black hole and boiled some water. I then dumped that down the drain and waited 10 minutes. Then I was suppose to dump bleach down the drain. I got a flashlight to see if it actually cleaned it out and when I stuck the light down there, fail. The gunk was still there. It smell good, but it was still gunky. So that didn't work out.

The next trick I used baking soda to clean my mattress. Not that my mattress was epically dirty or anything but after watching Infested and seeing this family deal with bed bugs, I got all itchy inside. So I thought what the heck!? I tore everything off and washed my sheets. While washing, I sprinkled (which ended with me just dumping it) all over my mattress and let it sit for an hour.

I then vacuumed the baking soda up and viola! My mattress smelt good as new. I guess the baking soda was suppose to soak up any moisture and bad smells that were in the mattress and kill off any bacteria or bed mites that might be lying around.

Conclusion to the cleaning story, I feel much cleaner sitting in my bed then I did yesterday.

cool new blog design

This here blog needed a revamping for the new year. I loved my last design that Hannah of 17 Inch Heart made me, but being a girl who needs change regularly, I needed to do something. And who woulda' thought that this girl could design her own blog and actually like it! All last night while skyping with Chris I was working on the new design.

I'm in love. I wanted something simple and got a lot of my inspiration from some of my favorite simple blogs. I kept with the same color scheme, because it's an awesome color scheme and you can't go wrong with grey, blue and purple. Well it's possible, but I don't care.

So here it is! The new and improved Kelly Elizabeth!
I am indeed a girl who loves cats and is addicted to candy. Spot on there. I added some of my favorite posts to the side, as you people with eyes can see. Sponsor buttons and all that jazz are staying the same, because I'm not about to go and change all that.

I hope you all enjoy the new design as much as I do! We'll see how long it last. 2 days? 2 weeks? 2 years!? I promise to have some good DIY/recipes coming soon, because guess who picks up her new Canon T3i in less than 2 weeks (what's with all the 2's....)? You really don't have to guess because I'm going to tell you. ME! Can't wait to have that beautiful piece of technology in my hands.

Well you all have a fab rest of your day, I'm starving and need food.
