Influenster Summer Beauty Box

A couple weeks ago, I received my first Influenster box. For those of you who don't know,  Influenster is a company that ships you boxes for FREE to try out new products. You sign up and then you begin to earn badges. Badges are the things that tell you apart from everyone else. It tells Influenster about your dislikes and your likes. For youtubers, there is a Youtube badge, for bloggers, there is a blogger badge, there's cat lover badges, brides to be badges, mother badges, and so on. There's a badge for everyone! Each badge you earn gets you closer to receiving a box.

I loved this Summer Beauty Box, it was full of goodies and some awesome product that i'm in love with that the moment! Influenster is really fun to get involved with, you can put reviews up of the products you tried and also read reviews that others put up. So if you like free stuff, head on over and sign up. There's nothing to it, I promise! Now scooch, go, get, now!

Here's what I got!

Always Tampax Radiant
I got a pouch full of feminine products. I love the pouch,
its so cute and perfect for holding all that girly stuff in you purse.

Quaker Soft Baked Bars
These bars are one of my favorite things to eat for a quick breakfast.
I got the banana nut bread one and ohh! so good!
Even better when you pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion
I was very surprised with this product. Being a sunscreen
I was expecting it to be super sticky and gross, but it's awesome.
It smells great and actually I love using it for my hands
(which usually don't get sunscreen protection).

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color
This was by far my favorite product that I got!
This nail polish was always one of those things that I really
wanted but never got. So I was pretty happy when I
got it in the box. It looks great one!!

Sally Hansen Nail & Cuticle Hand Cream
This was another favorite. I tried it right away when I got it
and it works wonders. I love using it after I stripped off all the
nail polish and they're dry from the nail polish remover.

Overall, I was very impressed with the box. I give it a good ol' A+. I can't wait to get my next one and see the goodies inside. As stated before, go check out the Influenster site! It's a great way to try out new products and it's FREE!! FREE!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

Independence Day Nail Tutorial

Today, I have a very simple red, white, and blue nail tutorial for you all. This look is perfect for those beginners that have a hard time doing all that fancy nail art. So let's just hop right in!

First, pick out your favorite red, white, and blue nail polishes.

Second, Paint all your fingers except your index white. Paint your index finger red.

Lastly, take the blue polish and carefully cover just the tips of your nails. Helpful tip: Instead of moving the brush across your nail, roll your finger and let the brush glide smoothly over top of it.

Wala! A super simple nail design that is perfect for the 4th of July!

My June Beauty Discovery

I don't do many beauty posts, but when I come across a product that I quickly fall in love with, it's hard to keep it to myself. Today I want to tell you guys about this amazing new product that Garnier just came out with and it's their new Skin Renew BB Cream. I've never tried a BB cream before, because I never really understood what it was. I wasn't going to spend big bucks to get one of the high end brand's BB cream, so when I saw this in Walmart for around $11, I grabbed it.

I was super excited to try it out and let me tell you, I love it. It doubles as a moisturizer and a light weight foundation which I absolutely love for the summertime. Personally, I hate the feeling of foundation on my face during the hot summer days. The light weight foundation in this cream doesn't at all make me feel like I have a layer of gunk on my face. Add a little concealer on top of my break outs and I'm good to go for the day.

My favorite part about this BB cream is the 15 spf protection. I've become a sunscreen junkie this summer, it's something I have to put on every day with my morning routine. So instead of skipping the sunscreen on your face because you know it will clog your pores, this BB cream has it built right in!

If any of you are like me and have always wanted to try a BB cream instead of a foundation and don't want to spend the big bucks on a high end brand, check this out. I think I'll definitely be adding this to my permanent summer face routine.

Have a fabulous Monday!

Mix Match Nails- a tutorial

It's day 2 of my birthday month favorites. Today I put together another nail tutorial for you all. This is another one of my favorite nail designs to do, mix match nails. You can do this look with pretty much any two colors you like, I chose blue and gold because I love these colors for summer.

Start off with you thumb and paint every other nail with blue, then the last two (index and pointer) paint gold.  Then grab some tape and cut a few stripes off. Helpful tip: lay the tape on your skin and take it off a few times to get rid of the stickiness that might rip the polish off later. Next position the tape on the tips of your nails and the base of your nails to create a triangle at each spot. Take the opposite color nail polish and paint right over the tape, covering the whole nail. Do 2-3 coats then gently take off the tape. Wala! You did it!

Hope you enjoyed this nail tutorial and please let me know in the comments below if there are any looks you would like me to re-create, thanks!

Have a great weekend!

beauty.

Today in my Women Studies 101 class, we were discussing magazine ads and how they reflect women. We began to focus more on the makeup ads, with the models and their perfectly photo shopped faces. And it was just that, photo shopped. Many of these models don't naturally have that perfect skin that never has one blemish or any sign of aging what-so-ever. It's merely the magic of the photo.

The class then began to discuss the reasons why women get all dolled up everyday, spending hours at a time putting on foundation and eye shadow and mascara. We had a few girls say how makeup is only there to hide your true self. Almost instantly a debate began with the argument that makeup can make the woman feel more confident about themselves and more outgoing. They aren't actually hiding anything, they're just emphasizing what their mother gave them.

I totally agreed with that. I feel putting on makeup in the morning has nothing to do with hiding yourself, its highlighting your natural features. Mascara is designed to make your eyelashes darker and longer, making your eyes seem bigger. Blush is designed to give you that natural pink color to your cheeks that isn't there all the time. Makeup is there make the person who puts the products on feel pretty and therefore, more confident in themselves.

I'm a user of makeup (sounds like I'm harassing my makeup) and there's nothing that I don't enjoy more about my morning then sitting in front of the mirror putting on my makeup and getting ready for the day. It has been a routine of mine everyday since 8th grade, when I began to experiment with different sorts of makeup. Having mascara on my lashes and knowing that those acne scars are covered up makes me 100% more confident in myself.
