it's happening....again

I have always reread the Harry Potter books each summer to freshen myself up before the next movie came out. Now that it's been 2 years since part 1 came out, the whole collection has just been collecting dust on the closet shelf. It's quite sad. This afternoon I decided to jump back into the magical wizard world and reread them all over again.

I know I can speak for hundreds of people when I say that the Harry Potter books and movies were probably some of the best years of my life. Am I right? or am I right?! How is it that one series of book can someone so happy?

Oh Harry, I've missed you. 

Mix Match Nails- a tutorial

It's day 2 of my birthday month favorites. Today I put together another nail tutorial for you all. This is another one of my favorite nail designs to do, mix match nails. You can do this look with pretty much any two colors you like, I chose blue and gold because I love these colors for summer. 

Start off with you thumb and paint every other nail with blue, then the last two (index and pointer) paint gold.  Then grab some tape and cut a few stripes off. Helpful tip: lay the tape on your skin and take it off a few times to get rid of the stickiness that might rip the polish off later. Next position the tape on the tips of your nails and the base of your nails to create a triangle at each spot. Take the opposite color nail polish and paint right over the tape, covering the whole nail. Do 2-3 coats then gently take off the tape. Wala! You did it!

Rosebud Nails- a tutorial

June is my birthday month (I'll be turning 20! Last month as a teenager) and to celebrate I wanted to do something special for all of you wonderful people. Throughout the month I'm going to be posting about some of my favorite tutorials, related to nails, hair, and bracelet making. So stay tuned for some really fun posts, I'm already super excited about them!

Today I'll begin the adventure with one of my favorite nail looks to do. This look is really great for the Spring season, but I love it just as much for summer. Enjoy!

I'm going to show you how I achieve these beautiful rosebud nails. This is one of my favorite looks do to, when I actually have some time to sit down and do them. Now for a disclaimer, I'm not a professional nail artist by any means so these aren't perfect, but you get the point! So if you like the look, continue on reading!!

Sally Hansen's Mint Sorbet, Wet n Wild's Caribbean Frost, Sally Hansen's Coral Reef, Sally Hansen's Cherry Red

Pick out 4 colors: a light green for the base of the nails, a darker green for the leaves of the rosebud, a light pink for the body of the rose, and finally a darker pink or a red for the outline of the rose. Also grab a small dotting tool and a small tipped paint brush.

Step 1- Use the lighter green to cover the base of your nail. Cover with 2-3 coats depending on the nail polish, I used 2 coats.

Step 2- Use the dotting tool and the lighter pink color to create random dots on each of your nails.

Step 3- Take the paint brush and a darker pink color or a red and create 3 lines on around the pink dot (2 on the outer edge and one in the middle)

Step 4- Again with the paint brush, take the darker green color and create two lines at the bottom of each rosebud to make leaves. Finish off with a top coat and you're done!
