Kopy Kat- Glue Gun Bottles

With my addiction to Pinterest coming to an all time high, I came up with a new series for you fabulous bloggers. I was thinking I might take inspiration from Pinterest, including paintings, DIY's, recipes, etc. and make them myself. I think it'll be fun (and probably hilarious) to see how my work turns out compared to the fabulous works that fill Pinterest.

I will call this new series of mine Kopy Kat (haha get it?) I'll copy the picture in the best way that I can. I will warn you now, my pieces probably will not be as good as the original ones. Truthfully, I'm not the greatest craftster. It's a lot trial and error with my work. I'm putting that up here for you guys to see. If you wanna laugh, go ahead. Trust me, I laugh at my own work all the time. I'm not Picasso.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to steal these people's ideas, I give entire credit to the original creator. I'm recreating what they made in my own way, no matter how similar they might end up being. Isn't that one of the reasons for Pinterest and blogging? to recreate what you see? At least I think it is :)

AND BEGIN!

I love bottle crafts, there is just so much you can do with empty wine and beer bottles. I've been big into saving old bottles, because I know i'll do something with them someday (anyone have this issue with other things?) That day came when I found these lovely bottles. They are so pretty and sooooo simple!

1. Collect your left over mason jars, wine bottles, beer bottles, etc.

2. Use a glue gun to write words or draw a neat design on the bottle. Hopefully you have a sturdy hand, because for me it was really difficult to keep my hand steady. Just go slow and do the best you can.

3. Let the glue dry and then take some spray paint in your favorite color and spray the bottle until it is completely covered.

I hope you lovelies will enjoy this series. If you come across a picture on Pinterest and you want me to do a Kopy Kat on it, leave the picture in the comments and i'll try it out.

Most Simplest and Most Amazing Banana Bread Recipe

My mom has been making this recipe since the beginning of time. She continues to buy bananas and no one in the house ever eats them. So when they turn gross we throw them in banana bread, what better choice do we have? Today was the day that the bananas were on their last leg so what did I do!!?? I made banana bread of course, hence the recipe tutorial.... It's a simple recipe, but it is my all time favorite.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup mashed bananas
2 cups flour
1/2 sour milk (milk and about 1 Tbs. vinegar)

1.  Mix together the eggs, sugar, and butter. Add the soda and salt.

2. Mash up your bananas and throw them in. Add the sour milk and stir everything together while adding the flour to thicken up the mixture.

3. Pour into a non-stick pan or glass pan, throw in the oven at 350 degrees for about 1 hour. Check with a toothpick and if still gooey keep in the oven for another 10 minutes.

4. Don't forget to lick the bowl. ( I didn't ) ;)

Feel free to do what you like with this recipe to perk it up a bit. Throw in some chocolate chips, nuts, cranberries, more bananas.... whatever you like really. Or leave it the way it is, because it's already awesome.

Talkative Tuesday- Valentine's Day

Jeesh, it's been a long time since I've done a Talkative Tuesday! I think my brain just likes to skip Tuesdays and totally forget about them. But today I told it, "you need to write one!" So give a big round of applause and welcome back Talkative Tuesdays :)

Is it to soon for to start decorating for Valentine's Day? Because I am in the mood for some lovin' (Valentine's lovin', that is...) Christmas is over with, sadly and Valentine's Day is the next holiday in line. Sooooo technically, I can start. This will be my first Valentine's Day with someone other than my cat (no judging, I love my cat) and I'm kind of excited for it. I want to do something special and sweet with my man. It'll be a day of Valentine's magic. :)

I found most of these images through Pinterest and they instantly put me in the mood for some serious decorating and eating...

Is it summer yet??

So if you live in Wisconsin, like I do, the freak weather that we have been having is no surprise. For those of you who don't here's the down low. One day it will be 40 degrees, sunny, and beautiful and then the next it's blizzard season. Either Mother Nature (is that actually capitalized?) is having some major personal issues or global warming has finally taken its tole. Anyway, today is one of the more warm beautiful days (yes, 40 degrees counts as being warm when you live in WI). I've been running errands all day and haven't once had to put my jacket on, I actually had the windows rolled down in the car. It's been seriously nice the last couple of days, which will soon be crushed by Mother Nature's (there it is again) mood swings, because about ten inches of snow is coming our way. :( mehhh

As I currently sit on my bed in shorts and a tank top, with the window slightly open I'm thinking of all the things I want to do come warmer weather. I love all the things summer brings, all the activities one can do because the day is ten times longer.

I've recently been making plans to get out and explore good ol' Wisconsin. My favorite choice (which is actually probably really dull) is Milwaukee's Public Museum. Yeah yeah laugh, I enjoy it there. I remember all the times my father would take me and my older brother there and how much I loved it. There's two places in the whole Museum that I absolutely adore and that's the butterfly exhibit and The Streets of Old Milwaukee.

(that thing is huge!!)

(this is my favorite place, the candy shop)

Despite the horrible humidity in the butterfly exhibit, I love it in there. Out of all the times I have been in there I have yet to have a butterfly land on me (I try so hard every time!). So I want to make a trip there and succeed in having one touchdown, I know it will happen!! The Old Streets of Milwaukee is another favorite of mine. The second you step into the place you literally feel like you jump back a hundred years. I have to admit, when I was younger I would pretend I was from back then and I would walk around acting like I lived there. They have a candy shop there that is to die for. And if your'e a candyholic like me, it's a dream come true. Mmmmm, I can't wait.

Another favorite on my list is actually not considered in Wisconsin, but in the UP (Michigan) and that is The Porcupine Mountains. In high school, I was apart of the Outdoor Club and we would take annual trips to the Porkies(as we called them). The trips were always so amazing and I went every year. We would camp out for the weekend, backpacking to a different campsite for each night. We hiked along Lake Superior which gave you a gorgeous view. I'm already a wilderness girl at heart, but the trips really made me love backpacking.

Lake of the Clouds (as seen below) marked the start of our backpacking adventure. this place is amazing, especially so early in the morning when the sun is coming up. You feel like your'e on top of the world, your'e hundreds of feet up, above thousands of trees and rocks. It's actually kind of scary if you think about it. The view is wonderful, nuff' said.

(wooo, young Kelly)

About a day hikes in, you come across all these gorgeous waterfalls (as seen above right). I have fallen in twice (once each year) trying to cross from one to the other and have broken two of my cameras (one each year). Does it seem like I have learned anything? Nope. Anyway, I need to go back, not want, NEED! The Porkies are calling my name and I need to answer. So come this summer, I'm hiking my booty up there and spending the weekend in the trees. :)

If your'e thinking of making a trip to Wisconsin, and let's face it, who isn't already? you should definitely check these two places out. They both offer so much more than what I mentioned, those just happen to be my favorite parts of them.

Here's the links to their website if your interested!

Coral Splash Manicure

It's another lazy Monday hanging out with the kitty. Didn't have work today, which meant sleep in and watch movies all day. :) I did my nails this afternoon in a way that made me smile so I wanted to show you my little creation.

My nails were in need of a makeover today and after several minutes of flipping through magazines and youtube tutorials for some inspiration, I came up with something I really like. I recently took a trip to Target and got some new nail polishes, my favorite being Sally Hansen's Coral Reef. It's this beautiful coral pinkish color and I absolutely adore it, so of course I had to use it!

Now this design has nothing to do with winter, unless you spend your winter in Mexico laying out on the beach. My thought were more on the lines of summer and pink lemonade, yum. I call it, Coral Splash.

Nail polishes used:
Sally Hansen Coral Reef
Sally Hansen Crushed
Sally Hansen White On (not pictured, sorry)

I did two coats of the white polish to give it a good base. Then using a makeup sponge I spotted Coral Reef  all over the tips, about half way down. Let dry and then spot Crushed on top of that. I love how the two go perfect with each other. :)

p.s. this is literally my first time taking pictures of my nails so forgive me if it looks amateurish (that's because it is)

Fairy dust kisses

There's just something about a kiss that can get anybody's heart beating. Especially that first kiss, the one kiss that is never forgotten no matter how hard you try. The one kiss that starts the passionate beginning to any relationship. There's just something magical about a kiss, whether that's cheesy sounding or not. I personally envision fireworks and fairy dust whenever I have a first kiss.....kidding, not really.

Last night, as my boyfriend was walking me to my car to say goodnight we got to talking about first kisses. There's a soccer field right outside his parent's house that made him remember the first kiss he shared with one of his past relationships in it. I then brought up ours and he laughed, our first maybe may not have been firework and fairy dust magical (he was on the phone) but it was a first kiss and that alone makes it magical. Thinking about it now, I remember the butterflies I got when he pulled me up to meet his lips. They almost burst out of my stomach. Eight months later I still get butterflies when he wraps his hands around my face and pulls me in. My mind has currently gone to Mars, so to bring it back, here are some magical pictures that celebrate first kisses. :)

Tell me about your most memorable, funniest, or sloppiest first kiss! I'd love reading about them!

Have a wonderful Sunday, whatever you are doing, and maybe try and snatch a kiss from your special someone. <3

Here we go again...

So once again, Kelly has decided to change the look of her blog. What is this, like the tenth time in the last 3 months. It's not the I have a hard time with committing to a certain look, it's just that I get so bored with it. I like changing it up every so often! I hope you guys don't mind too much with the constant header change or background change. Please forgive me for my OCD problem. ;)

Though the look I have right now, I must say, I really do love it. I found this purple chevron pattern over at StarSunflower Studio along with the many other cool patterns and buttons. Check them out, you can spend hours browsing through their hundreds of tutorials and backgrounds.

I plan on keeping this look for longer then the others, because I'm just so excited about it. I love the purple chevron with the orange text. To me, it just looks so darn awesome! I hope that this look can, let's say "brand" my blog and become the thing that screams, "oh, that's kelly elizabeth!!" That sounded cheesy, but brand cheesy.
This part is my favorite. This heart is another aspect of my blog that I hope becomes something that is related to kelly elizabeth. I also hope that you guys enjoy the new look and continue to enjoy my blog. I write for myself but I also write for you guys, I want you to read it and continue to come back. So don't be strangers and I hope to see you again.
