Birchbox #2- July

First off, I wanted to thank you all for the support in yesterday's post about Patches. I really felt all the love from you all with the great comments you sent. I truly appreciate them all.

This Birchbox review is a little late, but it's been a busy busy month. This is my second Birchbox and this box made me love my subscription even more! There was some really great products in this box and I loved them all. This month Birchbox teamed up with Glamour to give each wonderful person a box full of senses! Each product in this box relates to a different sense. How fun is that!?

Here's what I got:

Larabar Uber Bar
This energy bar was so yummy! It tasted exactly like banana nut bread.
They're super good for you and a great way to get
a little pick me up in between meals.

Oscar de la Renta Live in Love
I really like the smell of this perfume, though it isn't
a scent I would wear for everyday wear. If I have a hot
date with the man or going out with the girls I would
definitely wear this then.

Birchbox Exclusive Earbuds
I was really excited for these earbuds to come in my box.
I love the bright neon colors. The only downside is that after
a while of using them I noticed they started to wear out
quickly. I was kind of disappointed with that, but otherwise
they're great!

Jouer Moisture Tint
I gotta say, I love this product!! I'm not a big fan of the
"luminizing" part (too Edward Cullen for me) but otherwise
it's a great moisturizing light foundation. I've been using it everyday for the
last couple of weeks.

Boscia Blotting Linens
Love these!! I've been using them everyday since I got them
and they work great!

Eyeko Liquid Eyeliner
I'm not a big user of eyeliner, but I really like this olive green
color. It glides on really nice and is super easy to work with.

That's it for today, hope you guys enjoyed the unboxing! I can't wait for my August box to come in!!

Who else joined Birchbox?

Patches

Last week my mom and I had to make the decision that we've been holding off a while. We had to say goodbye to one of the greatest cats I've ever known. Patches had gotten really sick in the last month and wasn't showing any signs of getting better. He put up a strong fight, but I knew he was suffering and knowing he's in a better place now puts a smile on my face.

Thank you Patches for keeping me smiling the past 11 years. Thank you for distracting me with your adorable face when I had homework to be done. Thank you for spending all day in bed with me. You were always the best cuddler. Thank you for greeting me at the door every day. Thank you for being there during all the break ups with high school boys and fights with friends. Thank you for loving me unconditionally, even after yelling at you for drinking out the fish bowl. Most of all, thank you for being the best little fur prince any girl could ask for.

You'll always be the best cat.

Christmas In July-the unboxing!

A few months ago, I signed up for Christmas In July. I barely made the deadline, but I am so glad I made it in last minute. This was such a fun experience and I had so much fun shopping for my partner. I was paired with Jen from Dexter Morgan's Mama and when I got my box in the mail, I jumped for joy and immediately started tearing apart my box. Jen put the perfect things in my box and I couldn't thank her more. It truly was Christmas in July!!

Here's what the fabulous laday got me!

Candy
There was sooo much candy in this box!
The sad thing is, it's almost all gone.
I'm an addict.

Nail Polish
She gifted me three different nail polish, all of which I love.
I'm a nail polish whore and always love getting more.
I can't wait to try these beautiful colors out!

Yarn
It's like she red my mind with this one.
I've wanted to take up knitting and refresh my brain
on how to do it again. Love these colors and can't wait
to jump right in. Winter scarfs, here I come!

Nail File
She also got me this adorable nail file with little Scottish Terriors on it.
I'm always in need of these.

Cat Figure
This was a favorite in my box. It's hard to show in the picture
but it's a little cat figure with a nose and a tail. So cute.
His new home is on my windowsill.

Card
And after all the goodies I opened this card to find
the sweetest note from her. :)

Jen also got my kitties some cat toys which they instantly took from me when they saw the feathers. They thank you a ton Jen! I want to give Jen a HUGE thank you for the box, I loved it. I'm so happy I signed up for Christmas in July. If it held next year, I'm totally in!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

A couple weeks ago, I received my first Influenster box. For those of you who don't know,  Influenster is a company that ships you boxes for FREE to try out new products. You sign up and then you begin to earn badges. Badges are the things that tell you apart from everyone else. It tells Influenster about your dislikes and your likes. I loved this Summer Beauty Box, it was full of goodies and some awesome product that i'm in love with that the moment! There's nothing to it, I promise! Now scooch, go, get, now!

Here's what I got!

Always Tampax Radiant
I got a pouch full of feminine products. I love the pouch,
its so cute and perfect for holding all that girly stuff in you purse.

Quaker Soft Baked Bars
These bars are one of my favorite things to eat for a quick breakfast.
I got the banana nut bread one and ohh! so good!
Even better when you pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds.

Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sunscreen Lotion
I was very surprised with this product. Being a sunscreen
I was expecting it to be super sticky and gross, but it's awesome.
It smells great and actually I love using it for my hands
(which usually don't get sunscreen protection).

Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color
This was by far my favorite product that I got!
This nail polish was always one of those things that I really
wanted but never got. So I was pretty happy when I
got it in the box. It looks great one!!

Sally Hansen Nail & Cuticle Hand Cream
This was another favorite. I tried it right away when I got it
and it works wonders. I love using it after I stripped off all the
nail polish and they're dry from the nail polish remover.

Overall, I was very impressed with the box. I give it a good ol' A+. I can't wait to get my next one and see the goodies inside. As stated before, go check out the Influenster site! It's a great way to try out new products and it's FREE!! FREE!!

Happy Tuesday everyone!!

a day with the man

My weekends always fall within the week. So last week, for my weekend (Tuesday and Wednesday) I visited that wonderful man of mine, Chris. Of course when I got there it had to be in the 90's plus humidity, which made the apartment living hell. We were blessed with some cooler weather the next day and we decided to take a little road trip up to one of my favorite places in Wisconsin, Cave Point County Park. It's only an hour away from where Chris lives, so we packed our bags full of goodies and drove on up to spend our afternoon in the sun and water.

It's one of my favorite places in Wisconsin, because it is so absolutely beautiful there. The park is right on Lake Michigan and the whole place is just covered in rocks that you can walk on. The waves from the lake come crashing over the rocks making it all the more beautiful. It's just a really great place to take a day trip to and walk around on the shore. Plus right next door is Whitefish Dunes State Park and they have a fabulous beach.

We hiked through the woods a bit to reach the state park area and headed down to the beach. We instantly stripped our clothes and ran for the water, but then instantly stopped when we felt how cold it was. Lake Michigan never will be warm. We went in anyway and once you body went numb, it wasn't so bad. :) We soaked up some rays then were forced out by the black clouds of the storm coming, which ended our great day and we drove back home. I couldn't have ask for a better way to spend the day.

Peninsula State Park: Part 2

view part 1 here

The next few days consisted of more hiking, biking, and mopeding (is that a word too?). We biked into town one after noon for a day of shopping. We visited some of my favorite shops in Fish Creek like the candy store and all the little nik nak shops. I bought a ton of taffy and then even bought some ice cream on top of that. We sat on the pier eating our gigantic hawiian ices and ran into my little sister and her friend. They then became our photographers for some jumping pictures. We visited Egg Harbor to stop at the gelato shop, which has the best assortment of gelato flavors! There we did some more shopping and more shopping on top of that.

Other afternoons consisted of kayaking and sitting in the sun on the beach. I didn't bring my camera with for those events because I've had too many bad experiences with cameras and sand and water. Wasn't going to let that happen again. But kayaking was a blast, we rented a double and paddled our way to Horseshoe Island across from the beach. We also spent lots and lots of time at the campsite playing games, doing lots of reading, and sitting around the campfire. Camping is the best, ain't it? :)

and more pictures!
